Best of O.C.
Orange County has more hidden treasures than sprinkles on a Balboa Bar. And its national reputation for offering the best includes everything from white-tablecloth dining to white-knuckle roller coasters; from beaches to bars; from luxe retail to drive-through taco stands. Think of Orange Coast’s “Best of O.C.” list as your guide to the best of the best.
We chose some of this year’s winners because of their sustained excellence in Orange County; others made it because they’re one of a kind; still others rose above worthy competitors simply because they do it better. This year, we also put our official stamp on seven people who qualify as a “Certified O.C. Original”—entries on an honor roll of homegrown heroes that will grow with each passing year.
Of course, lists like this are always subjective and arguable, and we’ll look forward to hearing from you about the people, places, things, and experiences we overlooked this time around. We’re already anticipating the thrill of new discoveries for next year’s list. It’s a tough job, but, rest assured, it’s a sacrifice we’re willing to make. —The Editors
