On The Market
Victorian Charm - It shouldn’t be surprising that a number of Victorian homes currently are on the market in Orange, including the three featured to the right, but it appears that the love of old-fashioned style is not confined to that historical city. “I’ve always loved the Victorian style and I’m the type of person who doesn’t want to look like others,” says owner Donna Sartini, who had this Huntington Beach property built in 1987. “I wanted the home to be nonpareil in the neighborhood.”

With intricate gingerbread detail adorning the eaves and porch, the $1.9 million Victorian on 11th Street calls to mind homes from the Queen Anne period. This three-bedroom, three-bathroom, 3,200-square-foot house has much to offer its next owner, including a 1,230-square-foot, five-car garage. Its location directly across from the expansive, yet quiet, Lake Park offers views of manicured greenery.
Sartini achieved her goal inside and out: antique New England brick is arranged in a custom herringbone pattern at the entrance, while the chandelier in the foyer was imported from France. The master bedroom and bathroom are covered with carpeting from Scotland, and, according to Sartini, its pattern is the same as one from the Titanic—a nice touch, perhaps, for history buffs. Walls in a number of rooms are decorated with wallpaper from England.
“Victorian style can be ‘dressy’ or ‘feminine,’ but, with the floor plan and the numerous windows, my home has always felt cozy and homey,” Sartini says. “The large kitchen is what I cherish the most: The huge island and layout make for easy entertaining.” Listed by Scot Campbell, 714-960-6384.
